Digital vacation
I’ve debated for the past month or so on going on a digital vacation. I find myself getting annoyed at facebook and twitter, which when you think about it is ridiculous. When I first started using twitter it was about 3 years ago before I went to sxsw, I used it to keep my now wife, then fiance, abreast of what I was doing and who I was seeing speak (Mark Zuckerberg ironically), and the bands I got to see. No one else was really on the service and I didn’t even really understand what the point of it was. I’ve never been a huge friendster, myspacer, facebooker or whatever social network site is around, but I always had accounts on them, twitter really grabbed me due to its brief nature and its portability. Now I feel like both services are at a sort of critical mass and I’m just kind of bored with them both.
So, originally I was going to cancel my accounts, but I think for the first week I’m just going to delete the apps and bookmarks and just avoid it for a week or so, then maybe if I feel like it i’ll delete it entirely or maybe come back, who knows. If you’re a buddy, you’ll contact me by phone or email, otherwise we’ll talk in a week or so maybe.
I might still post coding and project work here, I just finished a PHP wrapper for the etsy API recently and we are doing some cool stuff here at the college and I like to share. Otherwise it will be digital silence. Have fun while I’m gone!
