Diggnation, or at least what I remember of it.
So after eating gross fries we headed over to House of Blues to catch my first ever live Diggnation. I was pretty excited. I have been watching diggnation since about the 10th episode, I was a gigantic TechTV fan and used to watch Alex and Kevin back in the ol screen saver days. Diggnation and TRS (totally rad show) along with many many other podcasts get me through my work days since radio sucks and music can be a bit much for me at times.
So Melissa and I roll into HOB let Ash and Chrissy know we are there if they care to join and we ask how the line is working. The girl up front tells us that if we spent $20 dollars each at the bar we could skip the line and head in. I thought, $20 at HOB? easy. You’ll notice I haven’t mentioned dinner yet, that would be due to the fact we haven’t had any. I get their best whiskey (Knob Creek) and melissa gets a beer and a shot. I think, sweet, thats probably $20 right there…nope…its happy hour…FUCK. SOOOOOOOO…3 knob creeks for me and a few beers and a shot later for Melissa and we get our pass the line passes and head downstairs. Ash and Chrissy met up with us and grabbed dinner (smart) and met up with us later.
Needless to say, we didn’t need to do that, they didn’t sell out HOB. There was plenty of room. Now, I love diggnation, and I’ve met plenty of awesome diggnation fans, but there are plenty of “I’m internet cool” douche bags that watch them too, and there were plenty of them there. Luckily for me I had the power of Knob Creek on my side to make me not care. I got the camera out and just took pictures for the rest of the night. I’ll let you watch the podcast to see what happened during the show, most of it is in there, what’s missing is an awesome DJ set from Mike Relm. He mixes video and music for one big show. He did a lot of easy to love classics, so it wasn’t to challenging, but for a bunch of internet nerds, showing them your deep knowledge of b-sides and back catalogs probably isn’t going to win you any fans. So we heard Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, Daft Punk, Justice and a bunch of others that I would have a hard time, for multiple reasons, naming.

I drunkenly met Dan Trachtenberg from The Totally Rad Show, told him he had my favorite podcast (truth) and I’m pretty sure that is all I got out of my mouth. Later I cleared my tab, we found a badge that no one claimed and after spotting Penn Jillette and talking to a couple of the dudes from iFanboy, we headed back to the hotel where I apparently snored very, very heavily.
Now I am not proud for getting this drunk, it wasn’t the plan and I’d rather have been more coherent for the diggnation show to be honest, but sans dinner and under the guise that we wouldn’t get in if we didn’t have a large enough bar tab, it happened. So whatever, after the week I had had (maybe I’ll expand upon this later), it was welcomed and honestly I had a blast.
